Peninsula Streams Society helps
coordinate stream restoration and habitat
conservation on the Saanich Peninsula.
We provide our member
groups with the technical
expertise and resources to help achieve
their goals.
The purposes of Peninsula Streams Society are:
- To develop, organize and participate in environmental
projects and programs on the Saanich
Peninsula and surrounding areas that
will:
- monitor, preserve and restore flora
and fauna
- monitor, preserve and restore
rivers, creeks and
watersheds, marine environments
and near-shore
environments
- conserve, re-use and
reduce water and waste
- improve the
urban and rural/agricultural environments
- To
educate and increase the understanding
of the public, environmental organizations,
government and the press about
environmental preservation and restoration
and their importance, by offering
workshops, seminars, training and lectures.
- To
conduct research relating to the environment
and disseminate the results of such research.

The Need

Biographies
Ian Douglas Bruce is the Executive Coordinator for the Peninsula Streams Society. Through his consulting firm, Watershed Ecological Services Ltd., he also provides ecological and fisheries services to industry, government and First Nations. Ian is a registered professional biologist and completed a Diploma in Restoration of Natural Systems at UVic in 2003. Ian grew up in Victoria, attending Margaret Jenkins, Monterey, Oak Bay Junior/Senior Schools and UVic. After a twenty year sojourn on the Island’s West Coast, he moved to the Saanich Peninsula in 1997.
Francesca Loro is the Stewardship Coordinator for Peninsula Streams Society. She is a recent graduate of the Environmental Science degree program at Royal Roads University and previously completed an Environmental Technology diploma program at SAIT in Calgary.
