Peninsula
Streams Society helps
coordinate stream restoration and habitat
conservation on the Saanich Peninsula.
We provide our member groups with the
technical expertise and resources to
help achieve their goals.
Peninsula Streams Society is now presenting our popular Environmental Education programs. We will be visiting all seven elementary schools on the Saanich Peninsula.
The Watershed Model and Tree Seedling programs are designed for grade three students. Grade 2-3 or 3-4 split classes are welcome to participate. Contact Peninsula Streams Society for more information.
Last year's Environmental Education programs were very successful with Peninsula Streams Society presenting to approximately 400 students. We also gave out almost 400 alders seedlings. The students raised the seedlings over the summer and then brought them back to plant at restoration sites in the fall. The students returned approximately 200 trees and helped to plant 400 (extra trees grown by Peninsula Streams Society volunteers). See our planting dates for fall 2008 on the volunteer page.
Peninsula Streams Society is looking for one or more volunteers to undertake the building of a new watershed model depicting the Chalet Creek Watershed. For more information visit the volunteer page.

Saanich Inlet and Peninsula Atlas of Shoreline (SIPAS) project:
Peninsula Streams Society with SIPS and SeaChange are moving ahead with the shoreline mapping of the Saanich Inlet and Peninsula. This key survey will identify critical biological habitat, processes, and physical features of our shores. This will allow us to identify key areas for restoration opportunities.
