Tseycum
Watershed
Projects and Programs
The
Tseycum Creek Hydrological Study is being undertaken
by North Saanich to identify watershed, hydrology
characteristics and problem areas, then suggest
improvements that should help reduce flooding and
chronic pollution.
Tseycum Watershed Community Initiative
The TWCI stewardship group was formed in 2002
to improve the health of Tseycum Creek and the
receiving waters of Patricia Bay. Tseycum watershed
was recently selected as the focus for the Peninsula
Stormwater committee’s pilot project on
improving water quality. Habitat restoration
and reintroduction of chum salmon has been undertaken
in Tseycum Creek for the last few years.

Backgrounder
"Tseycum" is the anglicised version of WSIKEM, the local First Nation name for the area, meaning "place of clay". In 2001-02, the WSIKEM-TENTEN Stewardship Project undertook an in depth study of fecal coliform pollution and other water quality parameters in Tseycum Creek. Click here to read the report.
